Welcome to Classroom 201
This post covers the weeks of 10/16 and 10/23.
Next week, since it is a short week, there will not be a new spelling list. Look for the next list the following week.
We will be doing some review work this week and beginning to write a basic saint report. We talk about taking notes and organizing information. This is a very basic introduction to a report.
When we return from MEA we will begin to learn about nouns. We will also resume our phonics and spelling and read the next story, Carlos and the Cornfield. This story is about a boy who is given the job of planting the corn. Carlos does this job rather quickly, which becomes apparent when the seeds begin to sprout.
We will be testing on our first math chapter and working on basic facts. Our next chapter is on place value. We will work with base ten blocks to learn about tens and ones. We will also be learning about number words, and expanded form.
In our last chapter we were introduced to sin: disobeying God. The next chapter is about the great sacrament of Baptism. We learn about Original Sin, our souls being washed clean at Baptism, and that we become a child of God at that moment.
We will wrap up our first science unit and transition to our next history unit: The War of 1812.
All Saints Party
We are still in need of volunteers to help with our All Saints’ Party on November 1st. If you can help create an activity, man a station, or do both, please let us know.
100th Anniversary of Fatima
It was a beautiful day celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Fatima. We began with prayer, prayed a rosary before the Blessed Sacrament in the school’s new Adoration Chapel, and watched “The Day the Sun Danced” while eating Miracle of the Sun Cake.
Thank you to those who came to conferences already. If you have not yet signed up, please contact the office to schedule a conference.
