Dear 3rd Grade Parents,

 It was great seeing you at conferences.  Will see the rest of you on Tuesday!  Thanks for taking time to meet with me.If you have not scheduled a conference please call the school office to see what times I have available. Thanks!
We complete  NWEA testing on Tuesday, Feb. 13th with the Language Arts section.   Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast and gets a good night’s sleep on Thursday.
 Due to Ash Wednesday falling on Valentine’s Day this year, the 3rd graders will be participating in a Valentine’s Day card exchange on
Tuesday, Feb. 13th instead. The 3rd graders will be participating in a Valentine’s Day card exchange on Feb. 13th.  The students are welcome to bring a Valentine’s Day card box on that day. They are more than welcome to use the same box as they did last year or the year before. The students are welcome to bring in their box on Monday.

We will be going to the Mill City Museum on February 21st. If the students are bringing their own lunch. Please make sure their lunch is marked with their name and in a plastic or paper brown bag.

The students will be taking a division quiz on Thursday over the 1 -5 division facts. Take some time to study their facts. Thank you for your support.

Epiphany has been chosen for the 4th year to participate in the Catholic Schools Raffle, sponsored by Catholic United Financial.  All raffle prizes and materials are provided by Catholic United Financial so 100% of the money raised from each $5 ticket sold stays at Epiphany.
Chances of being a winner is better than buying a lottery ticket!  Keep selling those raffle tickets!

Reading:  We will be reading “The Mouse and the Motorcycle.” We will be reading this novel for the next several weeks. We focus on comprehension, story elements, compare and contrast, and fluency. We also will be learning about generalizations.

Writing: We will be writing about what would happen if children were in charge of the world. We are still learning about how to write a paragraph.

Math: We continue learning about division. We will be learning our 5 division facts. We also will be reviewing our 1 – 4 division facts. Division quiz on Thursday.

Science:   We will be learning how natural causes can effect the ecosystem. We will be reviewing for our Science test which will be next week.

Religion: We are learning about the third and fourth commandment. With the start of Lent being this week, we will also be learning about this Liturgical Season and doing some activities to prepare our hearts for this 40 day journey.

History: We will start a new unit after science.

Homework: Homework for the week is due on Friday (2/16). Please make sure your child is reading 20 minutes a day and recording it in their reading logs. Reading Logs are due on Thursday  (3/1). The students will write how long they read in the box and you will sign the log at the end of the month. The students will turn it in at the end of the month.

Tuesday: Mass, Computer, and Library

Wednesday: P.E. and Spanish

Thursday: Art and Music

Friday: P.E.

Lunch and Recess: Recess-10:55-11:15 a.m. Lunch- 11:20-10:45 a.m.
