Maria Monson teaches History at Epiphany and holds degrees in Secondary Education, Communication Arts and Literature, and Catholic Studies. She is in her ninth year of teaching. Mrs. Monson was formed by her classical homeschool education and her family, where she is the oldest of eight. Here she formed a love of literature, stories and the classical curriculum. Mrs. Monson started her career in teaching while still in college, working closely with the homeschool community. Her teaching experience is quite diverse, including homeschool education, subbing around the metro for different schools and subjects, teaching literature and formal logic at a classical charter school and working for an English immersion program in Italy one summer. Finally, her occupational dream came true when she was offered a job at a strongly Catholic school teaching history. Currently, she enjoys teaching history, reading for education and for leisure, adventuring with her husband and spending time with her family. “The purpose of education is to form a virtuous individual and pursue God. We do this by exploring reality, facing truth and appreciating the goodness and beauty in our world.”
