Classically Inspired

What Is Classical Education?

Classical education is concerned not merely with good grades but with the good life. It hands on to the next generation a holistic worldview that integrates God’s grace, wise thinking, and virtuous living. By cultivating strong language skills, logical reasoning, and an appreciation for truth and beauty, classical education teaches students not merely what to think, but how to think. It explores both the natural world around us and the supernatural reality for which we were created. Rooted in a rich intellectual and spiritual tradition, classical education expands the horizon of possibility and draws us closer to Christ.

How Does Epiphany School Embrace the Classical Tradition?

At Epiphany School, we are inspired by the rich tradition of Catholic classical education and continue to deepen our implementation of its principles across our curriculum and school culture. Grounded in the Catholic pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful, we seek to equip students with the skills needed to learn well while cultivating virtue, wonder, self-discipline, and personal initiative. Our goal is to form students who love what is true, think clearly, and live faithfully according to the mind of Christ.

  • We integrate the Catholic faith into the life of the school day, celebrating the seasons and feasts of the Church as a living rhythm.
  • Students begin formal Latin study in grades 4-8.
  • We immerse students in the great tradition of classical literature.
  • We study poetry and commit selected works to memory.
  • We form students in virtue through faithful teaching and authentic witness.
  • We teach students to read with understanding, write with precision, and speak with eloquence.
  • We teach technology as a tool for communication, not as the primary means of education.
  • We encourage students to think deeply and to articulate and defend the Catholic faith with clarity and conviction.
